North and Northeast Colorado Springs have seen massive growth in recent years as new homes are built, popular restaurants open up and more people move to the area. The Colorado Department Of Transportation is taking a stand on the growing number of traffic fatalities by partnering with the Colorado State Patrol, Division of Motor Vehicles and local law enforcement to inform drivers and pedestrians how to act in a responsible manner on the roads. Their new initiative is called the “Advancing Transportation Safety Program” and aims to focus on these areas to make our roads a safer place: safe drivers, safe people, safe roads and post-crash care. By making our roads better for drivers, informing the public of the dangers of irresponsible driving and walking, as well as helping people understand how to stay safe after an accident, the Colorado Department Of Transportation is working towards making sure Colorado Springs never breaks another traffic fatality record, which is something I think we can all get behind.
