Jesi graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Psychology and minors in Architecture and Spanish. While exploring her next steps, she began interning at the Douglas County Public Defender’s Office, where she worked closely with colleague Michael Stuzynski as her mentor.
She continued along this path while attending law school at the University of Denver, focusing on becoming a defense attorney with an interest in indigent defense. During law school, Jesi interned with the Boulder County Public Defender’s Office handling misdemeanor cases and participated in the Criminal Defense Clinic, where she worked on municipal cases.
After graduating, Jesi began her career at the Colorado Springs Public Defender’s Office. As a public defender, she handled a wide range of cases and took multiple matters to trial, including charges ranging from Assault in the Third Degree to Possession of Child Pornography. She also litigated numerous motion hearings involving complex legal issues such as illegal searches and seizures, involuntary statements, and failure to preserve evidence in cases involving sexual assault, drug felonies, and motor vehicle theft. Through this work, she gained experience in both County and District Courtrooms.
In 2025, Jesi joined Rector Stuzynski after recognizing the opportunity to make a broader impact through both criminal defense and civil rights litigation. Since joining the firm, she has continued to build her career as a trial attorney, successfully handling serious cases including Murder and Attempted Murder.
Jesi is a dedicated advocate for her clients, both in and out of the courtroom. She works to secure favorable outcomes through strategic litigation and persistent negotiation, while also focusing on achieving goal-oriented plea agreements when appropriate. She is particularly committed to representing vulnerable and underrepresented individuals, including those who have been wrongfully accused or incarcerated.
Jesi handles all types of criminal cases and is prepared to fight for you or your loved one regardless of the charge, prosecutor, or judge involved. In addition to her criminal defense work, she also represents clients in civil rights cases involving government or law enforcement misconduct in both Colorado state and federal courts.
Outside of her legal work, Jesi enjoys spending time in her home pottery studio, where she practices wheel throwing. She shares her space with her cat Dorito, an abundance of houseplants, and her husband, who is also a criminal defense attorney in Colorado Springs. She also enjoys hiking, skiing, and rock climbing throughout her native Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas.
