The Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance Traumatic Injury Protection Program Insurance (TSGLI) is a disability rider added to the Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance Protection (SGLI) provided to all active duty members of the armed forces. All military personnel are automatically covered by TSGLI, which applies to injuries suffered by active duty members. This includes National Guard and reservists.
“What does it cover?”
- You must be insured by SGLI when you experience a traumatic injury (it can be waived, but almost all service personnel have the coverage);
- You must incur a scheduled loss (as specified in the manual).
The loss must be a direct result of a traumatic injury:
- You must have suffered the traumatic injury prior to being separated from the uniformed services;
- You must suffer a scheduled loss within 2 years of the traumatic injury. The traumatic event and the loss associated with in much occur with two years of one another, and you must survive for a period of not less than seven full days from the date of the traumatic injury.
If you sustained a traumatic injury while in the service and believe you may qualify for a TSGLI claim, feel free to contact us for a free consultation (719) 578-1106 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
