Why you should not wait to be medically checked after an accident.

There are a variety of reasons why people do not get checked by a medical professional after an accident.  Some of those are: no health insurance, fear of the cost of the ambulance ride and hospital visit or maybe their primary care doctor does not see accident patients.

Often individuals think they are not injured and try to feel better by taking over-the-counter pain medications, soaking in the tub or just best rest – hoping the pain will go away.  When the pain does not go away, often times they have waited a week, month or even several months to see a medical provider.  We have found that in these situations it adversely affects their claim.

Insurance companies love to see delay in treatment or gaps of treatment in care so they can put the blame back on the patient for not getting care and worsening their own condition.

There have been multiple recent cases in Colorado where jurors have come back with a verdict for the defendant because the plaintiff failed to get treatment and waited for some time to go to the doctor.

What victims of accidents do not know is that there are plenty of doctors in the Colorado Springs area that are more than willing to provide care and wait to be paid on a claim once it resolves.  If you have been in an accident and are not sure where to turn, contact the Rector Law Firm for guidance.  Put your health first.
